Commenting the print

Until now, the major difference between print and online was print’s lack of interaction. Readers couldn’t comment on articles as they were used to by online. Also, they couldn’t use the social media features like sharing on Facebook or tweeting.

The latest number of DoR (a Romanian magazine of groundbreaking nonfiction) makes commenting articles and the social features possible.

This means that readers can comment articles in real time, right after they’re done reading (or not).

In case you’re wondering how’s that possible, find out that they added QR codes at the end of each article. By scanning it with an internet connected mobile phone, readers will be automatically redirected to the comment page. of course, this is a way to promote Vodafone’s mobile internet services, but seems to be working just fine.

And it sure makes the interactivity gap between online and print smaller.

what do you think: QR codes on articles can become something found in all printed newspapers/ magazines?
could they offer that interactivity that print desperately needs?

drop us a line with your opinion.

Details of the magazine can be found here: Ro + En
